Networking Event Catering: Japanese Canapes & Finger Food

Great networking event catering does one job above all: it keeps people circulating, glass in one hand, a neat bite in the other, free to talk. Heavy plated meals anchor guests to their seats; the right finger food keeps the room moving and the conversations flowing. Sushijiro Catering brings premium Japanese canapes and grazing menus to networking events across Singapore, prepared in our central kitchen by a Japanese culinary team with roots in the Sushi Jiro omakase restaurant.
Why finger food rules at networking events
The whole point of a networking event is mobility. People drift between groups, swap cards, and balance a drink. Food that requires a knife, a fork and a table works against that. Japanese canapes and small bites are made for one hand and one or two mouthfuls, so nobody has to choose between eating and engaging.
- Neat, one-bite portions that don’t drip, crumble or need cutlery.
- A steady flow of food across the event, not a single seated service.
- Elegant presentation that signals a well-run, premium event.
- Variety that suits a room full of different tastes and diets.
Japanese canapes for networking event catering
Our canapes and live stations are tailor-made for this setting. Temari sushi, salmon aburi, ebi tempura bites and assorted maki look refined on a passing tray and travel cleanly around a busy room. This is networking event catering that adds polish without slowing anyone down.
Grazing platters that anchor the room
For a self-serve flow, generous sushi and sashimi platters create a centrepiece guests return to throughout the evening. A grazing table gives people a natural gathering point — often where the best conversations start.
Adding a live station for energy
If you want a focal point, a handrolled sushi or sashimi live station brings movement and a talking point. Guests cluster around the chef, strike up conversations, and your event gains a memorable centrepiece. It pairs well with passed canapes for a layered experience.
Tea breaks and lighter networking formats
- Morning or afternoon mixers: a Japanese high tea spread of sweet and savoury bites.
- Short coffee-and-connect sessions: a focused tea break selection.
- Evening receptions: canapes plus platters and a live station.
- Hybrid formats: individually packed bites for hygiene-conscious crowds.
Catering for a diverse guest list
Networking events draw mixed crowds, so inclusive food is essential. Our entire kitchen is strictly No Pork, No Lard, covering a broad range of guests, though we are not halal-certified. We also offer vegetarian Japanese options so plant-based attendees are properly catered for. Share your headcount and any allergens when you book.
How much food per guest
For a standing networking event of one to two hours, plan around eight to ten canape pieces per guest, scaling up if the event runs over a meal time or stretches longer. Our team will fine-tune quantities based on your timing and whether food is a feature or a supporting touch.
Delivery, setup and logistics
We cater networking events islandwide — co-working spaces, hotel function rooms, the CBD, Marina Bay and beyond. We time delivery around your start, set up platters and stations, and can provide staff to keep the spread topped up. Tell us your venue access and run-of-show so service stays seamless.
Lead time and getting a quote
We recommend booking a few days ahead, and a week or more if you want live stations or a bespoke menu, though we handle tighter timelines where we can. Pricing depends on format, staffing and menu tier, so we confirm exact figures on a tailored quote rather than quoting fixed prices here. For a quick estimate, WhatsApp or call us at +65 9739 1334.
Frequently asked questions
What food works best for a networking event?
One-bite canapes and finger food that guests can eat while standing and mingling. Grazing platters and live stations add focal points without slowing the room.
How many canapes should I order per person?
Plan roughly eight to ten pieces per guest for a one- to two-hour event, more if it runs through a meal time. We will recommend exact numbers for your event.
Is the food suitable for guests who don’t eat pork?
Our whole kitchen is No Pork, No Lard. Please note we are not halal-certified, but we are happy to accommodate specific dietary needs.
Can you supply staff to serve and replenish?
Yes. We can provide service staff and chefs for live stations so the spread stays fresh and your guests keep networking.
Do you deliver across Singapore?
Yes, we cater islandwide, including the CBD, Marina Bay and co-working venues. Just share your address and timing when you enquire.
Keep your guests mingling and your event memorable with Japanese finger food done right. Tell us your date, venue and numbers to get started.
How early should canapes be set up before guests arrive at a networking event?
We typically arrive 45 to 60 minutes ahead to plate platters, prime any live stations and dress the grazing table neatly before doors open. For CBD and Marina Bay venues with strict loading-bay slots or single service lifts, share your access window early so our networking event catering lands cleanly and is ready to go without holding up your run-of-show or your first arrivals.
Can you cater a short evening reception that follows a seated dinner?
Yes. For a light post-dinner mixer we scale right down to around four to six bites per guest, leaning on passed canapes and a small grazing point rather than a full spread that would go to waste. Tell us the timing and whether guests have already eaten a main meal, and we will right-size the menu and quantities accordingly.
Do you cater hybrid networking events with a virtual component?
We do. For the guests attending in person we set up passed canapes and live stations as normal, and for distributed or remote attendees we can prepare individually packed Japanese boxes couriered to their home or office, so everyone joining is properly catered for across both formats on the day.
